How can you exercise while you are Immunocompromised
If you are suffering with conditions like MS (multiple sclerosis) or an autoimmune disease, then you understand the risks of having a compromised immune system. Having a compromised or suppressed immune system makes it difficult and sometimes damn right risky to attend gyms or normal exercise classes. However, you don’t have to miss out on quality exercise with our Online Zoom classes.
With clear crisp webcams on every phone, tablet and laptop, fitness teachers and personal trainers can observe you while you exercise and make sure you move effectively. Thousands of exercise teachers now use Zoom to host group classes and private classes online. It’s really convenient. With our booking system you get an email before your class which takes you straight to your online studio. Pop your phone, tablet or laptop somewhere your teacher can see you and then we guide you through your workout. We can describe exercises in detail for you to perform and in real time we can offer corrections to make sure you move in the most optimum way. On Zoom you can also see the teacher demonstrate more difficult exercises but most importantly, is this fact that they can see you, offering encouragement and correcting any mistakes.
All of this from the safety and comfort of home!
Online classes with real teacher feedback
Our regular face-to-face classes are small, so our expert teachers can give everyone personal feedback and help them exercise more effectively with better posture. When England went into Lockdown in 2020 we moved after classes online but tried to keep them as similar as possible. Class sizes are still limited to 12 people, teachers still observe you and correct your alignment and make sure you understand each exercise. We now run online classes permanently, you can find our online class times here. Even if you can’t risk exercising in groups, you can have a regular exercise class. You’ll maintain your fitness and improve your fitness. Our teachers will get to know you and help push you further, refining your movement patterns, posture and more.
Everyone welcome, exercise classes to suit different levels of ability and energy level
Everyone is welcome to try our online classes. We have different levels of classes too, to suit different physical restrictions and different energy levels. If you feel worn out a lot of the time due to your MS or maybe ME then just getting to a regular exercise class might be a bit too much. Driving to a venue, exercising for an hour and then getting home can be a project! With online classes you can exercise from the comfort of your home. Regular steady exercise may also gradually improve your stamina and endurance.
If you are having treatment for rheumatoid arthritis or lupus, then you might be given Corticosteroids to reduce your symptoms but it also suppresses your immune system. In the current climate that might mean you run a high risk of getting ill and picking up other infections. You don’t have to stop exercising completely though, and those of you with rheumatoids will know how important it is exercise is and keeping your joints mobile. Your exercise routine can carry on though, just online. Good joint lubricating movement and pain easing exercise is only a few button clicks away now.
If you have done Pilates or other exercises before then you’re welcome to try our online classes. We have beginner friendly classes where new people can try our classes and see if they're a good fit…
Having an autoimmune disorder shouldn’t stop you from exercising
Exercise is important for all of us, are bodies are evolved to move. If you have any conditions that limit your ability to exercise you may start to suffer in other ways. The obvious weight gain can have other detrimental health effects. The loss of muscle tone and core strength can lead to other aches and pains. Whereas regular exercise can boost our immune, it keeps our hearts healthy and joints supple.
Whether your immune condition or immune supressing treatment physically restriction your ability to exercise or stops you mingling among groups of people, you can still find a path to exercise online. In a guided exercise class we can keep you moving and encourage you when you start to tire. Pilates is focused on good joint movement, so we’ll mobilise your stiff backs, hips and shoulders. It doesn’t matter that you can’t go out into a group class, you can still get all these benefits and more.
Our online classes have helped our clients stay active come rain or shine, through sniffles and clear sinuses. But, what if simple flu viruses are actually a more serious problem for you. An online class with proper teacher feedback can mean you get to exercise effectively and feel real changes in your body without having to risk your health. We don’t want to turn anyone into a hermit, it’s important that we all get to enjoy the company of friends and family. With online classes you can at least control your exposure to bugs and pathogens while still maintaining your fitness. We have several clients who are still mostly stuck at home but want to exercise, and with us they can exercise regularly and get all the benefits of Pilates.
If you are fed up being mostly stuck at home doing no exercise or just watching recorded workouts, then we’re here for you.
