What is Reformer?
The Reformer is the Pilates resistance training machine. You could compare it to the cable resistance machines at the gym but, it’s actually much more versatile. At it’s the core the Reformer uses powerful springs to provide resistance to test your strength. However, in the hands of the right teacher these springs can also support you if you are struggling or recovery from injury and need support.
Max 8 people per class! Teachers will make sure you move precisely and it’s excellent for beginners.
This is resistance training so you will develop lean muscle, get stronger and burn more energy.
But it’s still Pilates so alignment is still key. We will help you lengthen out and practice good movement patterns.
There’s heaps of core exercises as well as stability/mobility exercises for hips and shoulders.
WHO IS THE CLASS GOOD FOR?
Mixed ability. Beginner introduction recommended but not essential
This is a perfect general fitness class as you’ll raise your heart rate, mobilise joints and strengthen muscle.
It’s a great way of squeezing more exercise into less time, as the spring resistance will have longer lasting effects on your body compared to regular class.
If you have recovered from an injury or back pain this will be a good next step to build confidence by gradually challenging yourself and strengthen important muscles in your back, legs and shoulders.
